My intent is to set aside the expected perfection offered by digital mediums and embrace the unpredictable nature of analogue processes. This approach is a conscious decision to prioritize the value of the physical object and the authentic experience of making. By committing to analogue image capture techniques, I invite serendipity and the potential for "happy accidents" that are often edited out of digital workflows. The grain of the film, the texture of the paper or the subtle variations in the chemical developing processes become integral parts of the final work. This focus on the manual requires a slower more deliberate engagement with the environment and the shifting of light and shadows that is difficult for a digital camera to capture.
