Artist Statement
My work in visual art focuses on the mediums of painting and ceramics. In painting, I work with oils and watercolors. My oil paintings are rooted in the Pop Surreal genre, incorporating elements of world mythology and ancient symbolism. In my compositions, I juxtapose philosophical ideas with ethereal landscapes, inviting viewers to step outside of the ordinary.
In contrast, my watercolor pieces explore the botanical world and lean towards realism. My inspiration comes from the years I spent traveling and conducting fieldwork to research native cultures and identify similarities among them. I received formal training in painting at Tibet University.
In ceramics, I create hand-built pieces using the coil technique and the pottery wheel. The pieces are hand-painted applying fine brushwork with underglaze pigments. My ceramic work is significantly influenced by the time I spent in Jingdezhen, China—a city renowned as the porcelain capital of the world. Chinese language and characters serve as seeds of inspiration for my creations. Additionally, I have studied linguistics alongside art, and I speak English, Spanish and Mandarin, as well as holding a certificate in Tibetan language.
