Artist Statement
I’m a nature artist and illustrator working primarily in graphite, colored pencil and watercolor. My practice centers on close, sustained observation of the natural world — often beginning with inspiration found on hikes or in quiet outdoor moments — and evolves into finished works that blend scientific accuracy with gentle imaginative twists. While I’m deeply attentive to biological detail, I also aim to leave room for wonder in order to invite a sense of intimacy and play while honoring the ecological relationships.
Much of my work is rooted in the belief that quiet noticing is a radical act — a way of resisting speed, extraction, and disconnection. I’m especially drawn to species and ecosystems that are at-risk or that are often overlooked or undervalued, and I see my illustrations as a way of helping others fall in love with the specificity of a place.
In addition to creating original drawings, I translate my work into prints and greeting cards that circulate through small shops, seasonal art markets, and my online shop.
