Selena Engelhart

I am interested in paint as a sculptural medium, involving surface, texture and color. I am a spontaneous painter and my imagery comes from a deep and unknown place. Often I do not know where I am going and it is as if I wander lost for a while until I discover what needs to emerge. This is the best part of my process and the less I know the better. My images come from a deep inheritance in my subconscious which includes the language of my ancestors as well as my childhood. My paintings become portents or messages that inform me of my personal state of being and also mirror the environment of the world around me. And of course int the end...to paint brings me great joy.
