Artist Statement
I am a mixed media artist working primarily in series, with paper—whether found or handmade—serving as a connecting thread throughout my practice. My work is built through texture, layering, and intuitive mark-making, creating surfaces that invite close looking and quiet discovery. Each body of work functions as a chapter, exploring perception, memory, and presence.
After relocating from Colorado to New Mexico, I began to notice subtle but powerful shifts in how I see and create. The quality of light, the openness of the landscape, and the region’s deep cultural and historical layers have influenced my sense of place. These elements have become woven into the work in ways best experienced in person.
In the studio, I experiment with building layered surfaces, combining materials, and discovering new directions in their use. Rather than offering fixed narratives, the work creates space for personal interpretation. Visitors are invited to slow down, move through the work, and connect with what resonates.
During the studio tour, you’ll see works from multiple series, exploration samples, and both 2D and 3D pieces, all influenced by color. I hope you’ll leave with a deeper sense of how material, place, and intuition come together in my practice.
