Mixed Media

Nature as Metaphor

Artist Statement

I create photo-based mixed media work that is less about documenting what I see and more about expressing what I feel. With a background in painting, I use photography as a starting point, then layer, assemble, and transform my images digitally to create work that is interpretive, emotional, and poetic. Natural elements—flowers, branches, weathered surfaces—often appear in my work as visual metaphors for vulnerability, resilience, and the passage of time. I’m drawn to moments that feel quiet, fragile, and unresolved, allowing space for viewers to bring their own experiences into the work. My pieces are mounted on wood panels and often finished with paint or resin, blurring the line between photography and painting and giving the work a tactile presence. I invite visitors into my studio to see how these layered images evolve and to experience the work up close, where texture, scale, and subtle details come alive.
