Found Object Brooms & Brushes

Artist Statement

Guided by the phrase “Elevate the Ordinary” my brushes and brooms are meant to be used. I am inspired by familiar, discarded objects and discover new ways of creating brooms and brushes with them. I combine traditional broom making processes with local found objects (handles, balls, tools, etc) that feel good in your hand. Everyday use and functionality are always in my mind, but I also like to experiment with abstract ideas and create unexpected broom structures. I hope to capture and preserve the feeling of the original use of an object while creating something entirely new. I lived in Santa Fe in the late 80's & 90's, making my living as a jeweler and then moved back (from Vermont) in 2021 as a fiber artist/ broom maker. I was an artist in residence at El Zaguan on Canyon Rd for 4 years and now my studio is a few blocks off the plaza in downtown Santa Fe, I welcome visitors anytime. I currently have store and gallery accounts around New Mexico, as well as selling through Instagram. Most of my retail price points range from $15 - $150.
