Artist Statement

I believe that viewing a painting, or other work of art is humanity's direct access to magic. The painter is granted the privilege of releasing his inner being with each stroke, while the viewer is granted access to a separate reality not normally experienced. Georgia O'Keefe called this "making your unknown known" and I have spent a great number of years searching and and attempting to reveal my inner self. My oil landscapes show familiar scenes in a more dramatic way; my oils of people (particularly dancers) communicate their moment in the spotlight, while my watercolors take a look into various aspects of life often colored by my background as a theatrical designer. In a similar way the author has the ability to paint and lead the reader to a different world. I am blessed to be able share my work both as a painter and an author - an I find that they support each other.
