Fiber/Textile

Contemporary Fiber Art

Artist Statement

My weavings are traditional yet contemporary, muted or bright, simple and complex. My garments are designed by me, sewn with light, soft fabric that I weave using free style techniques on a simple floor loom. My favorite fabric yarns are bamboo, silk and cotton. My clothing is flattering, fun and always one of a kind. I create wall art using the traditional northern New Mexico Rio Grande style of weaving. I weave in harmony with tradition using a walking loom and locally sourced, hand dyed churro wool. Though the process is rooted in history, my tapestries reflect southwestern colors and contemporary, often geometric designs.
