This work is inspired from ancient totems, deities, goddesses and shamans, created as contemporary touchstones for the today's crumbling world. They are intended as conduits from the collective unconscious a la Carl Jung; they are guides to help us navigate those areas of ourselves lost to modernism. These figures seek out the past to inform the future. The pieces are rough, raw, not intended to be refined. We get that too often now with the presence of AI. I want them deconstructed, showing the inner workings of the beings on display. Some are masked signifying the blindness of our culture. The paintings are also raw, some incorporating bits of cloth and stones, forcing some kind of emotion on the viewer. I feel now is the time to shake up our complacencies and fight for our survival as humans.
