Artist Statement
I love making art. I love being in the studio, listening to music and watching my ideas come to life. There is something magical in the process. I think that is because I get to communicate in this visual form. I don’t have to say anything, I just have to put my feelings into it and someone else will get those feelings out of it. I love that people can look at my work and find something there, something unique, something new, a connection between the viewer and myself, or possibly a connection to a deeper part of themselves.
I make my original sculptures out of ceramic clay, fire them, make mold and then pour them in bronze. In this way I am able to use ceramic techniques and translate them into the more permanent media of bronze sculpture.
I have spent the majority of my life in the Southwest and you can see this in my choice of subject matter. In my most recent work I am exploring and depicting our ever changing natural environment.
