My painting is inspired by the western wilderness. I love the process of engaging intensely with natural beauty and translating it into an expressive painting that communicates more than a recreation of reality. I enjoy creating large-scale paintings, because they challenge me and my viewers to immerse themselves in the scene. But I am also interested in how smaller scale original paintings can condense the vastness of nature into an accessible experience. These original oil paintings are available in regional shows and at my studio during the Santa Fe Studio Tour. In the last year, I have been thrilled to develop a new way to share one-of-a-kind art pieces with a broader audience. I have perfected a method of creating enhanced canvas giclées, based on an original painting that was previously purchased. I start with a very dense, high-quality image of an oil painting. That image is professionally printed onto museum-quality canvas using archival inks and materials. I seal the image with a UV resistant coating and then use both oil paint and thick acrylic gel gloss to elaborate on the original image and create texture and brush strokes for depth and movement. These enhanced Giclee Canvases are available at a lower price point than my originals, but still provide the buyer with a unique work of art.
