Jonathan Hertzel

Sculpture

Abstract Random

Artist Statement

The Paintings and Sculptures of Jonathan Hertzel embody a raw, expressive dialogue between chaos and harmony, blending abstract expressionism with figurative sensibility. His layered, gestural paintings capture the energy of creation and dissolution, often exploring primal forces through vivid textures and inner-earth themes. Hertzel’s sculptures, such as Adam Splitting, bring his painterly style into three dimensions with fragmented, dynamic forms that evoke transformation and human struggle. His installations, like the Abstract Random Photo Booth, invite interaction, making the audience part of the artistic process. With over four decades of exploration across mediums, Hertzel’s work transforms emotion and material into a living experience, where painting, sculpture, and installation converge to tell stories of creation, identity, and human connection.
